A microchip is a permanent identification chip, about the size of a grain of rice (12mm), which is injected beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. The process is similar to a routine shot, takes only a few seconds, and your pet will not react any more than he would to a vaccination. No anesthetic is required. It is read by passing a microchip scanner over the pet's shoulder blades.
1 in 3 pets will become lost during its lifetime. According to the American Humane Association, only about 17% of lost dogs and 2 % of lost cats ever find their way back home. Almost 4 million pets are euthanized every year because their owners can't be found in time. Here at Sterner Veterinary Clinic we carry and promote Home Again Microchips.
